A free QR code generator that beats the paid ones

Most "free" QR tools put the good parts — logos, frames, colors, even static codes that don't expire — behind a login and a subscription. This free QR code generator does it all in your browser: static, standards-compliant codes with no watermark, no expiry and no account. The data lives inside the pattern itself, so a poster printed today still scans years from now without depending on any service.

12 QR types that do more than open links

  • WiFi QR — guests scan once and join your network. Perfect for cafes, offices and studios.
  • UPI payment QR — enter your UPI ID and an optional amount; any UPI app scans it to pay you. Ideal for small businesses, creators and tip jars in India.
  • WhatsApp QR — opens a chat with you, optionally with a pre-filled message. Great for order enquiries and support.
  • vCard QR — one scan saves your name, number, email and website to contacts. The modern business card.
  • Social profile QR — jump straight to your Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn or Telegram.
  • Location & Event QR — open a spot in Maps, or add your event to the calendar with one scan.
  • Link, text, email, phone and SMS — the everyday classics for bios, packaging, flyers and video descriptions.

Design options that usually cost money

Two-color gradients, three module styles, four eye shapes (square, rounded, circle, leaf) and SCAN ME frames with your own label — the customisations competitors reserve for Pro plans. Start from a template chip and tweak from there. Pair the finished code with the UTM Link Builder to track scans as a campaign, tidy the destination with the URL Slug Generator, and write the matching post with the Hashtag Generator. Tips for QR codes that actually scan

Keep strong contrast — a dark pattern on a light background scans best, and inverted codes fail in many apps (the tool warns you live). Leave the built-in quiet zone, print at 2 x 2 cm minimum, and test with a couple of phones before printing a thousand flyers. If a logo covers the centre, High error correction keeps the code readable — this tool switches to it automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Every QR code is completely free, has no watermark, no expiry and no scan limits. There is no sign-up, and because the code is generated in your browser, nothing you type — including logo images — is uploaded or stored.
No. These are static QR codes — the data is encoded directly inside the pattern, so they work forever and never depend on our servers. If you print one today it will still scan in ten years, as long as the link or data it contains is still valid.
Yes. Upload any image and it is placed in the centre with a clean pad behind it. The tool automatically switches to High error correction (about 30% redundancy) so the code still scans reliably with the logo covering the middle.
Twelve types: website links, plain text, WiFi login, UPI payment, WhatsApp chat, vCard contact cards, social profiles (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, X), location maps, calendar events, email, phone and SMS. Each type has its own simple form and produces a standards-compliant QR code.
Yes. Pick any colors or a two-color gradient, choose square, rounded or dot modules, four eye (corner) styles, and add a SCAN ME frame with your own label. Keep strong contrast — the tool warns you live if a combination is risky to scan.
A safe rule is a minimum of 2 x 2 cm for close-range scanning, and roughly 1/10 of the scanning distance for posters — a code scanned from 1 metre away should be at least 10 cm wide. Download the 2048px PNG or the SVG (infinitely scalable) for print.
They never expire and carry no watermark — static codes encode your data directly, free forever.
Yes — 12 types including UPI payments, WiFi login, WhatsApp and vCards, with gradients, frames and a centre logo, exported as HD PNG or SVG.
