How does the Website Health Checker work?

Each tab runs a real, live check from your browser. The redirect test fetches all four address variants (https/http × www/non-www) through an external fetcher that reports the final URL after redirects, so you see exactly where each version lands. The down checker combines an external HTTP probe with a live DNS lookup, the page counter reads your sitemap.xml (with a homepage-link fallback), and the blacklist check queries real DNSBL zones over DNS-over-HTTPS — the same lookups mail servers perform.

Why these four checks matter for SEO

If www and non-www both resolve without a 301, search engines see two duplicate sites and split your link equity. Downtime during a crawl wastes crawl budget and can temporarily drop rankings. A large gap between sitemap pages and indexed pages reveals an indexation problem worth fixing. And a blacklisted IP silently kills email deliverability and can flag your domain in security tools — most owners never notice until customers complain.

Set it in your .htaccess, hosting panel or a Cloudflare Redirect Rule, keep your canonical tags pointing at the chosen version, and use the same version in your sitemap.
The tool checks from an external server, so if it reports UP the problem is between you and the site: your ISP, DNS cache, VPN or firewall. Try incognito mode, mobile data, or switching DNS to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8. If the tool reports DOWN, the issue is on the server or DNS side and affects everyone.

DNS blacklists (DNSBLs) track IPs and domains linked to spam or malware. Mail servers consult them before accepting email, so a listing usually means your emails bounce or land in spam.
