GAPFORGE FAQ
Competitor research, without the fake certainty
Use this FAQ when a GapForge label, score, competitor suggestion or topic-gap result needs a clearer explanation.
Competitor discovery
Are the suggested domains the actual top 10 competitors by traffic?
No. Without a licensed traffic/ranking dataset, GapForge does not claim a traffic-ranked leaderboard. The list is a research shortlist based on detected subject/site type, market hints and optional live-search candidates.
Why can a famous global site appear even if it is not my direct competitor?
A category leader can be useful as a quality benchmark. For direct competitive decisions, prefer sites serving a similar audience, task, country and business model.
Scores, failures and review items
Why can a site show 100% scored checks and still have review items?
The percentage uses completed mechanical pass/fail checks. Review items are excluded from the score, so a site can pass every scored check while still having questions that need manual inspection.
Is every review item a weakness?
No. Review means the crawler cannot responsibly decide automatically. GapForge v168 separates review-only signals from confirmed failed checks.
Topic gaps and content
If my competitor has a topic and I do not, should I publish it?
Only after validating relevance, search intent, demand and overlap with existing pages. A missing sampled term is not automatically a content opportunity.
Does GapForge remove noisy topic differences?
Yes. Obvious navigation and boilerplate terms such as privacy, contact, login and similar noise are filtered from the topic-gap shortlist. Brand/menu noise is also reduced.
Traffic and growth
Can GapForge tell me exactly why a competitor gets more traffic?
No. Public HTML cannot reveal private analytics, full rankings, all backlinks, brand demand or conversions. Use GapForge to prioritize investigation, then validate with Search Console, analytics and appropriate third-party datasets.
What is the safest action order?
Fix confirmed failures, verify review items manually, improve important existing pages, research high-fit topic gaps, build original content, then measure real outcomes.
Use GapForge as an evidence-led research tool. It is designed to reduce wasted work, not to promise instant rankings.
